Global judgements and ideas.
The following letter was written in support for our current UCU national industrial action. Thank you Kassel and GEW.
The Kassel branch of the education union GEW (Gewerkschaft Erziehung und Wissenschaft) fully supports your struggle for decent pay, pension security and student’s education. In Germany we know about the problem of precarious labour within the universities, so you have the full solidarity for your very important strike.
Your strike is an important national and even European signal against the (in this case Tory) austerity, choking the working class for the last 30 years – even increased since the international economic crisis from 2008 until now.
Your strike is part of an awakening anger within bigger layers of working people around Europe – solidarity and combined struggle on an international scale is the only promising answer to that policy.
Strike: the only language they understand.
Best wishes and kind regards,
Simon N. Aulepp, Chair of Gewerkschaft Erziehung und Wissenschaft City of Kassel Branch, Germany.
Thanks to Anne Engelhardt who liaised for this.
